CAMZONE

Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 August 2026

Beta notice. Camzone is currently a closed beta, available by invitation only. Some features shown are demonstrations and are not operational — in particular, payments, identity checks and accreditation badges. No money moves through Camzone. The profile, listing and message content you enter is genuinely stored, and these terms apply to it in full.

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and S.Burgess & L.Burrows Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 08037317, which operates Camzone ("Camzone", "we", "us").

Registered office: 126 West Cross Lane, Swansea SA3 5NG, United Kingdom.

By creating an account or using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use Camzone.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your personal information and forms part of these terms. You can read it at www.camzone.co.uk/privacy, or from the link at the foot of every page.

Contact: steve.burgess@mac.com, or write to the registered office above.

2. What Camzone is — and what it is not

Camzone is a platform for UK film and television camera department crew. It lets members find one another, hire each other's equipment, buy and sell gear, advertise and apply for work, and talk in role-based forums.

We are an introduction platform and nothing more. In particular:

  • We are not a party to any arrangement you make with another member. Every hire, sale, engagement or booking is a contract between you and them, on terms you agree between yourselves.
  • We do not take payment for those arrangements, hold money, or handle deposits. You settle directly with the other party.
  • We do not supply, own, inspect or transport any equipment.
  • We do not employ you, engage you, or find you work. We publish what members and productions post, and let you contact each other.
  • We do not check that anyone is who they say they are, or that they hold the qualifications, memberships, insurance or equipment they describe.

You are responsible for satisfying yourself about anyone you deal with, and for the terms you agree with them.

3. Beta status

Camzone is an early working version. Features may change, break or be withdrawn. We do not currently plan to reset member data, and profiles, listings and messages entered during the beta are intended to carry through to public launch — but during beta we do not guarantee availability, uninterrupted access, or that content will not be lost.

4. Your account

You must be 18 or over and using Camzone in the course of your work or business.

You agree to give accurate information, keep your profile up to date, keep one account only, and keep your password secure. You are responsible for everything done through your account.

You may not create an account for someone else, or add someone else's details to Camzone without their knowledge.

5. Membership and payment

Browsing Camzone is free and always will be.

Taking part — posting your profile to the crew directory, listing equipment, messaging other members and posting in the forum — requires an active membership.

During the founding period, membership is free and no payment card is taken. There is nothing to cancel and nothing will be charged.

When paid membership begins:

  • You will be told in advance, by email, before anything is charged.
  • We will publish the price before you are asked to pay it.
  • No card details are held by us at any time. Any future payment will be processed by a third-party payment provider under their own terms.
  • If your free period ends and you do not subscribe, your account deactivates rather than being deleted — see section 16.

6. Equipment dry hire between members

Listings are placed by members, describing their own equipment.

Camzone does not set, collect or process hire fees. The rate, the dates, collection and return, condition on handover, damage, loss and any deposit are entirely between the hirer and the owner. Agree them before the kit changes hands.

Owners must have the right to hire out what they list, and must describe it accurately. Hirers must return equipment in the condition they received it, subject to what they agreed with the owner.

We may remove a listing, but we do not arbitrate disputes about equipment, and we are not responsible for loss, damage, late return or non-payment between members.

7. Insurance

Camzone facilitates but does not provide, arrange, broker or guarantee insurance.

You are responsible for holding cover appropriate to what you hire out or hire in. Where a member states that they hold insurance, or uploads a certificate, that is their own declaration — we do not verify it, and an "Insured" marker on the site means only that the member said so.

The acknowledgement step in a hire conversation is a record that both parties addressed insurance. It is not cover, not a policy, and not a statement by us that either party is insured.

8. Buying and selling

Buy · Sell · Wanted listings are between members. Camzone is not the seller, does not handle payment, and does not inspect goods.

If you sell in the course of a business, you have obligations to consumer buyers under UK law, and meeting them is your responsibility. Do not list anything you are not entitled to sell.

9. Work, job posts and pencils

Productions may post jobs, and members may apply. A job post is an advertisement placed by whoever posted it, not by us, and we do not check that it is genuine, that the work exists, or that anyone will be paid.

Camzone does not introduce or supply workers for a fee. Membership is a subscription for access to the platform; we take no commission, finder's fee or percentage from any engagement, and we are not a party to it.

A "pencil" is a provisional hold on dates, exactly as the term is used in the industry. It is not a booking, a contract, or a promise of work by anyone, and either party can release it.

10. Credentials, badges and verification

Credentials — unions, guilds, diary services, agents, membership numbers and links — are declared by members about themselves. We do not check them. They are a signal to help you decide who to contact, not a statement by Camzone that anything has been confirmed.

Any badge or marker on the site, including any labelled "verified", must not be read as a check carried out by us during the beta. Nothing on Camzone is verified by us.

Do not claim a membership, accreditation or credit that is not yours.

11. Ratings and feedback

After a completed hire, both parties may rate each other. Ratings are:

  • mutual and blind — neither side sees the other's rating until both have submitted, or a set period has passed;
  • submit-once — a rating cannot be edited or withdrawn afterwards;
  • attached to the account they describe, and they remain if that member's membership lapses.

Rate honestly and from your own experience. Do not offer or accept anything in exchange for a rating, and do not rate someone you have not actually dealt with.

We do not mediate ratings disputes, but we may remove a rating that breaches these terms.

12. Messaging and the forum

Messages are for arranging work and hires. Do not use them for unsolicited marketing.

A conversation belongs to both people in it. You may delete a message you sent; the other person keeps their copy of the exchange, and deleting your account does not remove their thread.

Forum channels are open to members whose roles match the channel. Posts cannot be edited after publishing, but you can delete your own. A channel is a shared professional room, not a private one — do not post anything confidential, including production details you are not free to share, personal contact details for other people, or rates given to you in confidence.

13. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload — your photos, CV, credits, listings and messages.

You give us permission to store, copy and display that content for the purpose of running Camzone and showing it to other users as the site is designed to do. That permission ends when you remove the content or delete your account, except where it forms part of another member's copy of a conversation, or a rating you left about someone else (see our Privacy Policy).

Only upload content you have the right to upload. Do not upload anyone's personal details without their agreement, or material that infringes someone else's rights.

14. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • misrepresent who you are, your experience, or your credentials;
  • post anything unlawful, abusive, harassing, discriminatory or deliberately misleading;
  • use Camzone to spam, advertise unrelated products, or harvest members' contact details;
  • attempt to bypass access controls, scrape the site, or interfere with its operation or security;
  • use another member's account, or let someone use yours.

15. Reporting, moderation and suspension

You can report a message, a forum post or a member from within the app, and you can block another member from contacting you.

We may remove content, restrict access to features, or suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why. Serious or repeated breaches may mean permanent removal.

We are not obliged to monitor content, and we are not responsible for what members post — but we will act on reports.

16. If your membership ends

If a paid membership is not taken up when your free period ends, your account deactivates. It is not deleted.

That means your profile is hidden from the crew directory and public view, your listings are unpublished, and you cannot send or receive messages or post in the forum.

Your data is kept intact behind your login, and subscribing later restores everything exactly as it was.

17. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

Some things survive by design, and our Privacy Policy explains why: messages you sent stay in the other party's copy of the conversation (shown against an anonymous name), and ratings you gave other members remain on their profiles, shown anonymously.

You can also download a copy of your data at any time from your account settings. Do that before deleting if you want to keep it — once the account is deleted we cannot produce it.

We may close your account if you breach these terms, or if the service closes. If we close the service we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to download your data.

18. Our liability

Camzone is provided "as is" during the beta. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption or free of errors.

We are not liable for:

  • the acts, omissions, honesty or solvency of any member;
  • loss of, or damage to, equipment hired between members;
  • non-payment, late payment, cancellation or non-appearance;
  • work not materialising, or a job post that turns out not to be genuine;
  • your business losses, including lost profit, lost work, lost bookings, or loss of data or goodwill.

Where we are liable to you, our total liability is limited to the membership fees you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, during the free founding period, is nil.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

19. Your rights

If you are acting as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

Camzone is aimed at people using it for their work, and most members will be acting in the course of a business.

20. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as Camzone develops. If a change materially affects you — particularly anything about payment or your access — we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Camzone after that means you accept the change.

21. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
